IDB News & Notes A Bi-Annual Newsletter Spring Issue - April 2024

Greetings Leaders,

I take this opportunity to extend my appreciation to you for your continued support. Amid the many challenges and
transitions over the last few months, we have remained focused on our mission of developing leaders. We are excited about this year’s program offerings. Many new and improved programs are now available with expert faculty, facilities, and partnering organizations. Since January 2024, we have executed six programs, and our program teams are set to deliver eight over the next quarter. Included among these deliveries are our 2-week Industrial Based Broadening: Logistics and Dense Urban Studies Programs. Our portfolio of Program Offerings continues to grow as we develop new programs to meet the educational needs of our upcoming leaders in the DoD, Government, and private industry. We are excited to share the 2024 Program Listing here for your convenience. Please feel free to use and share the pre-registration form to get started with the process. Our team is available to answer any questions and to assist with choosing the program to best meet your needs. We currently have seats available in several programs.

Speaking of IDB Programs

We love to hear from program participants and recently received a testimonial/article from current participants of the Aviation Industrial Readiness Program (AIR-P). In this testimonial, Markus Murdy captured this experience from his perspective as a participant, and we are pleased to share it with you A Reflective Testimonial. The Benchmarking tours are one of the highlights of the AIR-P. This program is designed for commanders, and senior civilian leaders of our Nation’s depot, arsenal, and ammunition facilities. It integrates leadership development business management concepts to help Defense Organic Industrial Based Leaders manage these large organizations effectively. The next cohort is scheduled to begin on October 20th, 2024. Additional information on AIR-P can be found here.

A Leader’s Perspective

Dr. Theresa Smith, Deputy Joint Program Executive Officer, Armaments & Ammunition

The IDB team is a conglomerate of like-minded individuals who seek to serve and support our Nation’s LOGTECH leadership through education and engagement. Those people who contribute to our success include both past and present staff,
board members, executive fellows, vendors, proponents, faculty, alumni, and more. We recently had the opportunity to conduct Q & A session with Dr. Theresa A. Smith, Deputy Joint Program Executive Officer, (Armaments and Ammunition), United States Army. Dr. Smith shared her insights on leadership, professional development, and proposed training for all career levels. She also shared her take-aways from the IDB Program for Executives in Logistics Executive) which she attended in September 2021. Full Q&A session can be found here.

New Partnership

We know collaboration is a key to success. As an organization, the IDB was built on partnerships and collaborative efforts. Our partnerships are mutually beneficial with the shared goal of developing leaders through education. We are excited about our newly formed partnership with ECU and the additional opportunities it provides to educate our Nation’s current and future leaders.
