Mark is a Program Director for the Institute for Defense and Business, a role he has filled since joining the IDB Staff in May 2022. 

Mark served at Headquarters, Department of the Army in the Army Talent Management Task Force in the Pentagon prior to his retirement in 2022. In this role he identified, constructed, and implemented novel talent management solutions that drove the largest transformation of the Army’s personnel management system in over 70 years. He previously served as the Logistics Branch Proponency Officer, United States Army Sustainment Center of Excellence, Combined Arms Support Command, Fort Lee, Virginia. 

A graduate of Northern Michigan University, Mark was commissioned as an Army Transportation Corps officer in 1996 and initially served with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment. He served as a logistics officer at all levels to include command of Army Field Support Battalion – Afghanistan, 401st Army Field Support Brigade during the transition from Operation Enduring Freedom to Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in 2014.   

His Joint assignments include duty with the Joint Staff J7 (Joint Force Development) where he served as a Doctrine Analyst in the Joint Education Directorate and as a Joint Exchange officer with Headquarters, United States Air Force Mobility Command, 618th Air and Space Operations Center where he served as an Air Refueling Branch Chief and Special Air Missions Division Chief.  

A graduate of the Army’s Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course and the Army Command and General Staff College, Mark also graduated from the United States Army War College, Class of 2018. 

Mark has earned a master’s degrees in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College and in Leadership and Management from Webster University. He was a Training With Industry officer with FedEx Express, Memphis, Tennessee. 

Mark resides in Mechanicsville, Virginia with his wife Amy.
