Steve Lulow joined the Institute for Defense and Business in June 2023 as an Industry Relations Director. 

Steve Lulow has had an impressive career spanning over three decades, encompassing both the private and government sectors. During his 33-year tenure at 3M, he held various key positions and collaborated closely with government entities at all levels. Notably, he served as the Key Account Manager for the Air Force Air Logistics Complexes, working alongside esteemed entities such as the AF Sustainment Center, AF Corrosion Office, AF Research Lab, AF Safety, and AF Civil Engineering Center. Steve’s focus was on introducing innovative solutions to enhance maintenance, repair, and operations for diverse weapon systems platforms, resulting in significant process improvements and cost reductions.

From 2016 to 2022, Steve excelled as the Key Account Manager for the AF ALCs, overseeing major Army Depots, including Red River AD and Corpus Christi AD. He successfully implemented large-scale cost-cutting measures through the utilization of cutting-edge 3M technologies. Additionally, Steve served as the liaison between 3M and IDB, strengthening the partnership between the two organizations as a Corporate Sponsor for the DAELP and AIR-P programs.

During his tenure as the Business Development Manager for State and Local Governments and Higher Education from 2005 to 2016, Steve played a vital role in driving collaboration and innovation. His contributions were notable during the 3M Hurricane Katrina Task Force, where he supported local representatives in their recovery efforts and collaborated with FEMA to assist the city of New Orleans. Steve’s expertise in setting up large-scale operations for city Health Departments during potential pandemic outbreaks was evident during this time.

From 2001 to 2005, Steve served as a Homeland Security Specialist within the Occupational Health and Environmental Division at 3M. He worked closely with state Emergency Management Agencies, ensuring the provision of essential personal protective equipment (PPE) for first responders after the 9/11 Terrorist Attack. Steve’s efforts included building substantial stockpiles of PPE for future security threats and educating local and regional hospital systems on PPE usage.

Between 1990 and 2001, Steve held the position of Occupational Health and Environmental Safety Specialist. He collaborated with renowned customers like John Deere, Caterpillar, and the Rock Island Arsenal, focusing on implementing safety programs that significantly reduced recordable injuries.

Steve’s unwavering dedication to defense, industry partnerships, extensive experience with government agencies, and his deep-rooted military background fuel his passion for supporting those who serve.
