Since 2016 and as we approach the upcoming 2020 presidential election, the potential impact of foreign interference in U.S. elections is concerning to most Americans. What exactly is considered to be election influence by a foreign entity? What are some covert and overt examples? Are these methods legal? How can our citizens properly identity false propaganda from truthful information and stay informed? These are only a few of the questions being discussed at dinner tables, classrooms, and conference tables. The Institute for Defense & Business (IDB) has brought together a panel of prominent subject matter experts and researchers to explore these questions and provide some insight to this important topic.
- Bill Buzzi, Program Director, Institute for Defense and Business
- Dr. Ben Freeman, Director of the Foreign Influence Transparency Initiative, Center for International Policy
- Ms. Anna Massoglia, Researcher at the Center for Responsive Politics and Manager of OpenSecrets’ Dark Money Project
- Mr. Josh Rudolph, Fellow for Malign Finance at the Alliance for Securing Democracy
The panel took place on Thursday, October 22nd at 1:00 PM EST. Please see the recording of the panel below.
