High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV)

The High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) also known as the Humvee® is in use by all of the military services.  The HMMWV has been manufactured by AM General in their assembly plant in Mishawaka, Indiana since 1984.  There are currently more than 160,000 HMMWVs in more than 17 variations in use by US military forces.  Military applications for the HMMWV range from troop and cargo transport to serving as a platform and transport for the AVENGER surface-to-air missile system.

ITV with border.jpgInternally Transportable Vehicle (ITV) (Growler)

The Internally Transportable Vehicle (ITV) or Growler is currently in limited use by the US Marine Corps.  The ITV is manufactured by General Dynamics and American Growler in Robbins, NC.  The ITV is designed to be a light strike vehicle capable of being transported in the MV22 aircraft or CH-53E/K helicopter.  In June of 2009 the first ITVs were delivered to a Marine Corps infantry battalion. To date more than 150 ITVs have been delivered to the Marine Corps with 31 slated for delivery in FY11.  The ITV comes in two variants, one for reconnaissance and a shorter version used to tow a mortar or ammunitions trailer.

MTVR with border.jpgMedium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR)

The Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) also known as the 7-ton, is the primary medium tactical platform used by the US Marine Corps.  The MTVR is designed to replace the M939 series 5-ton truck.  The MTVR has been manufactured by Oshkosh at their main facility in Wisconsin since 2001.  There are more than 8000 MTVRs in 9 variations in use by the Marine Corps.  More than 2000 MTVRs have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of military operations.  Applications range from troop and cargo transport to wreckers capable of recovering the Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle.

LVSR with border.jpgLogistic Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR)

The Logistics Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR) is a 22.5 ton heavy payload truck in use by the US Marine Corps.  The LVSR was designed to provide greater off-road capabilities than the Logistics Vehicle System which has been in service since the mid-1980s.  Oshkosh, headquartered in Wisconsin has manufactured the LVSR since 2009.  Approximately 700 LVSRs have been delivered to the Marine Corps with fewer than 100 seeing service in Iraq and Afghanistan.    The LVSR comes in three different variants, the cargo, wrecker, and tractor.
