I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) Governance and Economics Conference (2011)
This Governance and Economics Conference was designed to assist the I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) in preparing for its deployment to Afghanistan. The Conference focused on governance and economic development strategies and the activities planned and underway by the Afghan government, US government agencies, international partners, the private sector and non-governmental organizations with a special focus on transition processes. The event was held at the Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command base in San Diego, CA, November 6-9, 2011. The Conference was sponsored by the Task Force for Business & Stability Operations (TFBSO) of the Department of Defense.

82nd Airborne Division Governance and Economics Conference (2011)
This Governance and Economics Conference was designed to assist the 82nd Airborne Division in preparing for its deployment to Afghanistan. The Conference focused on governance and economic development strategies and the activities planned and underway by the Afghan government, US government agencies, international partners, the private sector and non-governmental organizations with a special focus on transition processes. The conference included video tele-conferences with the Regional Platform. The event was held at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux, Fayetteville, NC, July 11-13, 2011. The Conference was sponsored by the Task Force for Business & Stability Operations (TFBSO) of the Department of Defense.

IIMEF (Fwd) Governance and Economics Conference (2010)
This Governance and Economics Conference was designed to assist the II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) in preparing for its first deployment to Afghanistan. The Conference focused on governance and economic development strategies and the activities planned and underway by the Afghan government, US government agencies, international partners, the private sector and non-governmental organizations. The conference included video tele-conferences with the Governor of Helmand Province and the Regional Platform. The event was held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Conference Center in the Research Triangle Park, Durham, NC, November 30 - December 2, 2010. The Conference was sponsored by the Task Force for Business & Stability Operations (TFBSO) of the Department of Defense.

The Interagency Roundtable was designed to assist the XVIII Airborne Corps in preparing for its deployment to Iraq. The roundtable focused on an interaction between the Corps and USG, NGO, and IO decision-makers in an unclassified forum regarding anticipated strategies and operations in Iraq during the Corps' deployment. The roundtable also allowed all parties to discuss civil-military plans and operations well in advance of the deployment in order to better inform all planning activities, thereby to enhance outcomes. The event was held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Conference Center in the Research Triangle Park, Durham, NC, August 11-13, 2010. The roundtable was sponsored by the Task Force for Business & Stability Operations (TFBSO) of the Department of Defense, and was organized by the Center for Stabilization and Economic Reconstruction of the Institute for Defense and Business (IDB).

The 4th Infantry Division (4ID) In-Theater Business Transformation Roundtable was organized at a tactical level to provide the deploying soldiers with an update on current ops as well as an opportunity to engage their non-military counterparts. The Roundtable was held in Killeen, Texas (home of FortHood), at the Killeen Civic and ConferenceCenter on October 17 and 18, 2007. It was sponsored by the Business Transformation Agency at the U.S. Department of Defense and was organized by the Institute for Defense and Business.

Executive Roundtable for Economic Reconstruction (2007)
Organized at the request of MajGen (sel.) John F. Kelly, Commanding General of I MEF (Fwd), this senior level roundtable was held over the course of two-days at Quantico, V.A. on September 19 and 20, 2007. It focused on interagency issues and private sector engagement. The roundtable featured an address by Gen. James Conway, Commandant of the Marine Corps, a briefing on the current status of II MEF (Fwd) from MajGen (sel.) John Allen, Deputy Commanding General of Multi National Force – West, and a private sector initiatives address by Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Business Transformation, Paul Brinkley. The roundtable also included presentations from the U.S. Departments of Defense, State, Commerce, Treasury, and Justice, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the NGO and IO community, and Washington Post reporter and author of “Fiasco” Tom Ricks.

II MEF (Fwd) Economic Line of Operations Roundtable (2006)
Organized at the request of MajGen Walter Gaskin, Commanding General of II MEF (Fwd), and BrigGen John Allen, the Deputy Commanding General (Support) of II MEF (Fwd), this roundtable was held over the course of two-days in Chapel Hill, N.C. on November 1 and 2, 2006. Focused on interagency issues and private sector engagement, this roundtable featured an address by Deputy Under Secretary of Defense Business Transformation, Paul Brinkley, as well as a briefing on the current status of I MEF (Fwd) economic and governance initiatives by the Deputy Commanding General (Support) from I MEF (FWD), BrigGen David Reist. Roundtable break-out groups developed action plans on Agriculture, Job Growth, Rule of Law, Infrastructure and transportation, public health and project management.

1st Cavalry Division In-Theater Business Transformation Roundtable (2006)
MG Joseph Fil, Commanding General of U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division and BG Vincent Brooks, Deputy Commanding General (Support) of 1st Cav requested that this roundtable be organized and delivered by the IDB within a period of approximately thirty days to meet the 1st Cav deployment schedule. Organized concurrently with the II MEF (Fwd) roundtable, the 1st Cav roundtable was held on September 24 and 25, 2006 in Killeen – Fort Hood, Texas. The roundtable featured presentations by the Department of State, USAID, Department of Commerce, Department of Agriculture, Iraq Reconstruction Management Office, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, DoD, the Iraqi-American Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce of Iraq, as well as NGO’s and the private sector.

I MEF (Fwd) Economic Line of Operations Roundtable (2006)
The first event of its kind, this Roundtable was requested by MajGen Richard Zilmer, Commanding General of I MEF (Fwd) and BrigGen David Reist, the Deputy Commanding General (Support). Held on base at Camp Pendleton, California, the roundtable took place on January 10-11, 2006. The roundtable included presentations, panel discussions, breakout groups and report-outs. The organizational structure moved from higher-level presentations on the Iraqi Economy by a Deputy Finance Minister of Iraq, to briefings on current operations in Al Anbar Province and to specific break-out group discussions and development of action plans. This Roundtable initiated a new level of understanding and interagency cooperation that was expanded in subsequent roundtables as well as other venues and activities related to economic reconstruction in Iraq.
