Program Description
The Life Cycle Executive Leadership Program (LCELP) was developed by the Institute for Defense and Business (IDB) to provide leaders with a tailored educational experience to help them better understand the challenges of implementing, managing, and developing life cycle plans and policies within their organization.
Purpose of LCELP
·
To increase participants’ knowledge, skills, and abilities while linking them to a broader network of industry peers.
·
To reinforce practical “working” strategies, expanding and facilitating knowledge transfer and cooperation within and among participating organizations.
·
To provide world-class academic instruction, peer interaction, and in-depth exchanges with military and private sector counterparts.
Timeliness of LCELP Participation
Participation in the LCELP could not be timelier.
In May, President Obama signed into law the Weapons Systems
Acquisition Reform Act (Public Law 111-23, dated 22 May 2009).
This law establishes new oversight entities within the Department of Defense, as well as new and varied weapons system acquisition and management reporting requirements.
If you’re responsible for lifecycle aspects of a system – from acquisition to its end of life – then this program is for you.
Academic Partnership
LCELP is a one-week program offered in partnership with the Schools of Industrial and Systems Engineering at North Carolina State University (NCSU) and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T). With its business education expertise, IDB has worked with experts from these universities to develop a specialized curriculum on effective and affordable life cycle system design, with a focus on total cost reduction.
Who should attend?
Professionals responsible for developing a life cycle approach from acquisition to design and through sustainment—ideally O4-O6 grade military officers, GS-13 to GS-15 government civilians, and their private sector equivalents with 10-15 years of management.
Upcoming Program Date
The next program will be held on December 6-11, 2009 at the R. David Thomas Executive Conference Center on Duke University's West Campus.
