Andrea Carpenter joined the Institute for Defense and Business in July 2005.  She is responsible for the financial operations and human resources functions within the Institute.

Before joining the Institute, Ms. Carpenter spent six years at Duke Medical Center in Durham, N.C., where she was a Revenue Manager with the Duke University Health System and Business Manager of the Division of Cardiology within the Duke School of Medicine.  Her experience also includes seven years as a private medical group administrator and over six years in the corporate banking division of Wachovia Bank, where she specialized in marketing corporate cash management services.

She received a B.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
